Finally, an affordable hands free holder designed for page magnifiers. It's comprised of 2 clamps with a flexible goose neck in between. This device is great for holding page magnifier over computer screens, vertical books, e-readers, needlepoint projects, etc. However, it DOES have limitations, so please read the rest of this description before purchasing. It is designed for Fresnel (page) magnifiers, but can be used to hold anything up to 3 lbs and 2" thick.
Lightweight and fairly portable
Gooseneck is 20"
Plastic cover on ends of grips prevent scratching.
Clamps have moderate tension and hold up to about 3lbs.
Clamps can grab a desk or table up to 2" thick
You need to have a moderate degree of strength to open the clamps. The springs have a medium resistance. Most people, regardless of age, will not have an issue.
It does take a little dexterity to position the magnifier correctly over the page or computer screen. This is especially true with page magnifiers.
In our product testing, the best way for the clamp to support the sheet magnifier over a computer monitor is hanging down. However, this will put the goose neck in field view, so it does take a little getting used to.
Despite the considerations mentioned above, we feel this is an incredible, affordable solution to holding page magnifiers with your hand. The last stand we carried (which was surprisingly quite popular) sold for $95!
